2D Chalk Art / Portraits
As a professional chalk artist, I can create all kinds of chalk art but I have a special love for creating large-scale chalk portraits. My artwork is usually temporary, crafted outdoors on asphalt streets or concrete sidewalks, but I can also create more permanent pieces, utilizing paint on vinyl or canvas, which can be displayed indoors. I am based in Palm Beach County, South and Central Florida, but I am also happy to travel as needed. Chalk art is an exciting, trending medium, and I would love to help make your event more memorable by providing a vibrant image to engage viewers.

I had the opportunity to work side-by-side with my daughter to chalk portraits of these characters from the Ted Lasso TV show, Ted Lasso and Roy Kent. I chalked Ted and she handled Roy. It was her first ever attempt at a portrait, and she kicked its butt.

Daniel Day Lewis has always been one of my favorite actors and this is one of his most disturbing characters... the glass-eyed Bill the Butcher from Gangs of New York.

Thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic, Chalkfest at Arbor Lakes was forced to move to a virtual event in 2020. I had been catching up on episodes of “Parks and Recreation” and decided that man’s man Ron Swanson would be a fun subject. This was from an episode where Ron volunteered himself as a babysitter. I thought it probably looked like a lot of parents stuck at home with kids during the pandemic!

The theme for the 2019 Madonnari Arts Festival was "courage". I came across this US postage stamp of Sally Ride, the first American woman in space, and decided it would be fun to "stick" it to the street. It was a departure from the more realistic portraits that I tend to favor, so I had a great time playing with all the bright color.

This was the first year that the Three Rivers Arts Festival was featuring chalk art, so all of the artists decided to chalk different famous Pittsburgh natives. I chose Hollywood musical icon Gene Kelly. I loved this portrait because it was so different from any other image of him that I had seen, capturing the pensive side of the otherwise smiling Kelly.

We were happy to be invited back to the Pinecrest Gardens Fine Arts Festival. We had planned to create a 3D image in the Gardens, but Mother Nature had other plans. A rainy weekend found us indoors, chalking this macro image of a sleeping cuckoo wasp in their gallery space instead.

Shortly after the death of the great Stan Lee, it seemed fitting that I chalk this image as a tribute. The theme for this event was "Inspiration", and there are few who have inspired more artists, children, comic book lovers, movie-goers, and daydreamers than Mr. Marvel himself. This painting earned an award for "Best of Show".

Chalk portait of Helena Bonham Carter, as Bellatrix Lestrange, from the "Harry Potter" movie series. This was a much smaller portrait than I was used to drawing, and the street surface was very rough, so this one was a real challenge. In the end I was pleased that it turned out as recognizable as it did! This painting earned an award for "First Place, Adult Category".
